Learning to Trust your Body - A unique Approach

What if you sit with yourself for just a moment and ask your body right now: "How are you doing in these challenging times?"

And then pause. And listen. 

My own healing journey made it clear: My body is an elephant. She remembers everything she's ever done or experienced.

Our physiology trumps our brain! When our fight, flight, and freeze patterns are running our show, it is VERY HARD to change our ways and how we do life. Change the physiology and the rest starts to fall into the right places. Including relationships. 

I tried to talk myself out of all kinds of things for so many years, but now I allow myself to drop the stories. I appreciate that the body keeps the score. And here in the body, is the remedy given to all mammals. 

In a small circle we will connect online and then allow our body's healing capacity take over through healing innate tremors, smart bodyhacks, and a nervous system and polyvagal theory in a nutshell .

For stress and tension there is a natural remedy. 

A balanced nervous system provides you with the energy, resources and drive to do what you are called to do in your life. With this method you ignite your self-healing on the deepest level - the level of your nervous system and your bones. 

In 1921, a German physiologist named Otto Loewi discovered that stimulating the vagus nerve caused a reduction in heart rate by triggering the release of a substance he coined Vagusstoff (German for "Vagus Substance”). The “vagus substance” was later identified as acetylcholine and became the first neurotransmitter ever identified by scientists.

Vagusstoff (acetylcholine) is like a tranquilizer that you can self-administer. Consciously tapping into the power of your vagus nerve can create a state of inner-calm while taming your inflammation reflex.

The vagus nerve is the prime component of the parasympathetic nervous system which regulates the “rest-and-digest” or “tend-and-befriend” responses. On the flip side, to maintain homeostasis, the sympathetic nervous system drives the “fight-or-flight” response.

Healthy Vagal Tone Is Part of a Feedback Loop Linked to Positive Emotions

The neurogenic tremor modality that we talk about here was inspired by TRE (Tension and Trauma Release Exercises). Mindfulness Methods, the insights of my teacher Paul Linden in Embodiment Training for Love and Power, the Polyvagal Theory of Dr. Stephen Porges, Somatic Experiencing of Dr. Peter Levine, and my training as a Spiritual Coach. Combined with Impro-theater for a good belly laugh and to connect with other people on the same path, we will learn, teach, embrace what is there, right now in this very moment. It is not coaching. Because coaching refers to the future. It is not therapy. Therapy looks into the past. It is coming home to your body and feeling good in your own skin again reaching deepwithin, right down into our nervous system. 

Dr. David Bercelli, who as a physiotherapist had been studying the effects of stress on the body for decades, developed some physical exercises that reactivate the natural healing field within us. By working with people in crisis areas, he observed that people from different cultures all adopt the same posture and involve the same muscles during drastic experiences. A central muscle in this context is the psoas muscle, the only muscle in the body that brings about the lumbar spine with the thigh and a fetal position when contracted, to protect the organs in the abdominal cavity. My studies of the autonomic nervous system, insights and lessons from numerous gentle methods of self-regulation are incorporated into this work. (see Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory)

Recent studies on neurogenic tremors show that it can reduce sleep problems, chronic pain and digestive problems, and decrease fatigue and exhaustion. It is also possible that events that have already been investigated verbally in therapy and are still being recorded on a physical level may be resolved by tremor on the physical level and thus be able to go. 

The psychology of our mental wounds is complex. The physiology of our mental wounds is relatively simple.

Therefore, the release exercises of Neurogenic Vibrations - a simple self-regulating tool that helps us to feel more connected and secure - can help us learn how to ground ourselves and eliminate the exaggerated protective reflexes associated with trauma (= Greek for wound) and long sitting hours and hightened tension in these unprecedented times. 

Stress is not a purely mental factor. Stress also has an enormous influence on the biochemistry of our body. 

The psoas muscle - the muscle of the soul? 

A relaxed psoas will bring a new freedom, lightness, and structural integrity to your life. It can be a little difficult at first to access the subtle sensations in the psoas. There are many habitual patterns deep within the body, especially if you are performing a sitting or standing activity. To experience the feelings that are deeply connected to the psoas, it is best to approach it with calm attention, patience and perseverance.

Through a friend of mine, who leads these sessions herself, I became aware of this topic. This kind of stress reduction was not known to me until now. 
It's great that this method can be easily integrated into everyday life without having to leave the house and without having to prepare yourself. It is a simple and effective method to reduce stress and to have fun instead of exertion. In the beginning it was an overcoming of my resistance to get involved in such a session and to approach it without prejudice or expectation, but what was amazing for me was that an improvement of the inner stress level was immediately palpable. I try to remember this session in stressful situations and to integrate it into my daily life.
